My dog, Zorro, is a male cross bichon frise shih tzu. He was born in a happy home on June 21st, 2011. We (hubby, son and me) were introduced to Zorro when he was four weeks old. We bonded with him every week at the breeder’s home until he was eight weeks of age when we brought him home.
He gets cozy next to me as soon as I start writing, no matter where or when. So I call him my writing buddy. He loves listening to my stories when I read my drafts aloud. His ears perk and he sits up staring at me. But when I act up certain scenes from my stories to feel the page, he gets excited and runs to get his ball so I can play with him, which works out as a wonderful break-time. The best he loves when I bounce the ball, he jumps really high and almost every time catches it in the air.

I have three preferred spots in my home for writing. My first draft was done mostly in bed at night. All I had was a blank book and a pen. Handwriting the first draft gave me the chance to introduce myself to the characters in my novel as we got to know each other without technology disturbances. I wrote in silence while everyone slept. It seemed like the world had gone to sleep except for myself and my story. Later on, the electronic drafts were written on my dining table – eighty percent of the time – during the night. Yes, I am an owl.

They speak to me more than I do in these final edits. So I can say thank you to the rain, Zorro and my characters who are talking volumes today.
I admit, it took me a while to get the bracelet done. I was going through writer’s block and making the bracelet was a great diversion. Now with my new bracelet dangling on my wrist, I am back to editing the last few chapters of my novel before handing it over to my editor.
